We designed our hat styles to accompany you on all of your adventures, so follow these guidelines to keep your new Patina hat looking its best!
For general dust or dirt, we recommend a hat brush - follow the grain of the wool and always brush in the same direction to keep the fibers laying flat. This will help keep your hat looking its best! For stubborn lint or pet hair, a lint roller can pick up more stubborn bits of fuzz.
After brushing, if you find your hat needs a bit more care, spot clean by using a damp cloth and gentle soap, and gently buff and blot the surface as needed. The cloth should have enough moisture to clean, but shouldn’t be dripping wet. You can use a clean, dry cloth to blot any additional moisture as needed.
To clean the sweat band: Use gentle soap, water and a toothbrush to lightly scrub the inner sweatband inside the hat. Blot the hat band with a clean, dry cloth to absorb any excess moisture.
Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaners, as this can damage the fibers or adversely affect the dye used. We do not recommend dry cleaning, soaking, or fully submerging your Patina hat!
Our hats are made using 100% felted wool, which means that they may respond to moisture if worn on rainy or snowy days. Luckily, reshaping your hat couldn’t be simpler! Using a clean table, ironing board, or another hard flat surface, place a clean cloth or towel down, and then place the hat on this to iron the brim of the hat. Use your iron’s wool setting and lightly steam to reshape and flatten. The brim should pop back into its original shape! Allow to set and cool completely before wearing.
If needed, you can use a steamer to steam the crown of the hat to reshape, but be careful to not wet the hat! Just the steam and heat itself will help the wool to reshape to its original form, but, if you wish, you can also reinforce the original shape with your fingers throughout this process.

When hats went on I sale, I decided to buy the Lark in Cream with a Ribbon Band. I had to buy a size larger to get the color I wanted in the hopes of lining the band to adjust the fit. It looks like that will work out in my favor. The hat shipped in a great hat box that you should keep. The box is made to store and protect the shape of your hat. The wool felt feels like a good quality weight and the Lark’s subtle western style is structured and firm. Keeping it stored properly will help maintain that shape for years to come.
Because the hats were on sale at such a good price, I jumped in and bought the ribbon band Lark in Cream. The Lark is a subtle western style hat. I bought a size larger than needed to get the color I wanted hoping to line the band to help with the fit. It looks like that will be an easy fix. The hat shipped in a sturdy hat box you should keep to store your hat and protect its shape. The wool felt feels like a good quality and the hat itself is structured and firm so that it will hold its shape for years if protected and stored properly.
I bought the Lark in black for my sister, for a Christmas gift. Her hair is grey tones, so I thought the black would be best, and not blend in. She received it the day after Christmas, but was so excited to try it on. She only knew she was getting a hat, because I had her measure her head, so I knew what size to order. She measured a smidge under the medium size, so that's what I ordered. I did read reviews that reported it running small, another reason to get the medium. It fits snug, so it won't blow off, but not tight. She loves it!! I sent her some turkey feathers to dress it up.
The hat is lovely and well crafted. After sizing my head at 54cm, I purchased the 55cm hat, which was too small. I returned it for the 57cm and it's a perfect fit.
I love hats and have a few. Or more. This beauty is well made, true to size, and I have adorned it with a hand woven band that I thinks looks amazing. The packaging was great and I kept it as it is a great storage box, complete with a handle.
The only negative is that I think I might need it in more colors.
